Gua sha This selection should be chosen when wanting to receive a gua sha session versus hands-on manipulation. If you're wanting more hands-on manipulation, this add-on isn't recommended. If you're interested in just a sample of gua sha's benefits, a local area can be achieved with a session that's more hands-on manipulation. Gua Sha has many wonderful benefits and should be a session in itself. A productive gua sha session can also be achieved in conjunction with vibration and/or cupping as long as the goal for that one session are ideal and achievable. |
$15 Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain. In gua sha, a therapist scrapes your skin with short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow. They make these strokes with a smooth-edged instrument known as a gua massage tool. The therapist applies massage oil to your skin, and then uses the tool to repeatedly scrape your skin in a downward motion. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain. Rubbing the skin’s surface is thought to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Gua sha is generally performed on a person’s back, buttocks, neck, arms, and legs. A gentle version of it is even used on the face as a facial technique. Your therapist may apply mild pressure, and gradually increase intensity to determine how much force you can handle. |
Vibration This selection should be chosen when wanting to experience and receive vibration therapy. In this session, vibration can be distributed through the therapist's hands with many different movements that produce vibration. Vibration can also be produced by an electrical machine, percussion tools, vibration bowls cupping and scraping. If you're wanting more hands-on manipulation, this add-on isn't recommended. A productive vibration session can also be achieved in conjunction with gua sha and/or cupping as long as the goal for that one session are ideal and achievable. |
$15 Vibration healing is an alternative therapy that involves using a mechanical vibration (administered through specialized equipment) to treat certain health problems or injuries. Also known as vibrational therapy or vibration training, vibration healing is used in a variety of health-care settings (including physical therapy, massage therapy, rehabilitation, and sports medicine). Vibration applied on the human body can help increase peripheral blood, lymph and tissue fluid flow, and enhance the substance exchange within the tissues. This effect boosts the circulatory system's efficiency and effectiveness to deliver oxygen and nutrients to cells, and in exchange, take away metabolic wastes from the cells. This is how vibration therapy helps achieve better circulation. |
Cupping Therapy This selection should be chosen when wanting to receive a cupping session versus hands-on manipulation. If you're wanting more hands-on manipulation, this add-on isn't recommended. If you're interested in just a sample of cupping, a local area can be achieved with a session that's more hands-on manipulation. Cupping has many wonderful benefits and should be a session in itself. A productive cupping session can also be achieved in conjunction with vibration and/or gua sha as long as the goal for that one session are ideal and achievable. |
$15 There are several theories on the mechanisms of cupping. Skin is well vascularized – meaning it has a rich blood supply, and the applied suction has been found to increase circulation through dilating capillaries causing them to rupture – which causes the tell-tale circular bruises – and to promote lymphatic circulation.2,3 Cupping also exerts a positive effect on regulating the immune system and controlling inflammatory processes.4Where there’s stagnation, there will be pain. Remove the stagnation, and you remove the pain.”The old Chinese medical maxim holds that pain results from the congestion, stagnation, and blockage of Qi, or vital energy, vital fluids, lymph, phlegm, and blood. If pain is the essence of disease, then suffering is a result of obstructed or irregular flow in the body. Chinese cupping is therefore a method of breaking up the blockage to restore the body’s natural flow of energy. |
